Mental health services for children are guided by the core principals of CASSP (Child and Adolescent Service System) which states:
MH services must be child centered meeting the child’s individual needs, family focused recognizing the family as the primary support system, community-based where services are delivered in the child’s home/community when possible, multi-system where everyone involved with the child /family work collaboratively, culturally competent where the values, customs and beliefs of the family/ethnic group are recognized and respected, and offered in the least restrictive/intrusive manner possible.
Children’s mental health services include the following:
- Crisis Intervention:
Mental health crisis stabilization for all ages and information and referral for appropriate and agreed-upon mental health services. - Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitalization:
Safety, crisis stabilization and psychiatric treatment in a secure hospital setting. - Partial Hospitalization:
Acute, short-term treatment during the day for school age children & adolescents. - Outpatient Mental Health Services:
Includes a range of outpatient services to include psychiatric evaluation and treatment and individual and group counseling. - Case Management Services:
Includes assessment, linkage to needed services, service monitoring, and advocacy. - Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services:
Includes one-on-one emotional and behavioral support in the home, school and/or community. Variations are available in the Oil City School District. - Family Based Mental Health:
Delivered by a team of two (2) professional therapists offering intensive in home services designed to serve families with children who are at high risk of hospitalization or out of home placement. - Transitions Program:
Provides intensive team delivered services for youth involved in multiple service systems that are transitioning into adulthood. - Student Assistance Program:
Provides in school drug, alcohol, and mental health pre-assessments as well as various treatment groups for students - Residential Treatment Programs:
Offers a structured, therapeutic residential program designed to improve social skills, teach anger management and coping ability to alleviate presenting symptoms. - Children's Complex Care:
A team approach to develop a comprehensive, coordinated and collaborative system of service to children/adolescents and their families. - Family Behavioral Health:
In home therapy delivered by a single therapist. Must meet standards of medical necessity.
